Overview

Aqua Moving Services recently managed a challenging move for a well known international Charity relocating a household from Haiti to Sierra Leone. This case study outlines the difficulties faced and the strategies that ensured a successful move.

Challenge

The main challenge was operating in Haiti, a known dangerous area controlled by gangs with minimal government control possing significant risks for conducting a pre-move survey, packing, and collection.

Solution

Virtual Pre-Move Survey:
• Our experienced Move Mangers conducted a virtual survey to accurately estimate the shipment volume, minimising the need for physical presence in the hazardous area.

Comprehensive Planning:
• After completing the virtual survey, we provided a door-to-door quotation
• Our Move Mangers then gathered all required customs documentation proactively to ensure a smooth process once the shipment was ready.

Coordinated Execution:
• Our removal partner in Haiti highlighted the extreme dangers, including risks of kidnapping and violence.
• We coordinated with all parties to find a small window of opportunity to send a removal truck and crew for packing and collection.

Client Communication:
• We kept the client informed throughout the process. At one point, the situation in Haiti became so severe that people were leaving their possessions behind and evacuating. Fortunately, we acted swiftly and secured the collection of their belongings just in time.

Outcome

Thanks to the collaboration and careful planning of all parties involved, we successfully moved the client’s possessions out of Haiti and ensured their safe delivery to Sierra Leone. The client was highly satisfied with the outcome, resulting in a successful and safe relocation.

Conclusion

The project demonstrates the importance of flexibility, proactive planning, and effective communication in managing complex and high-risk relocations. The success of this move underscores our commitment to providing secure and efficient moving services, even in the most challenging circumstances.
